The VII Russian Conference

The VII Russian Conference with international participation
”Multiphase Systems: Models, Experiment, Applications“

is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Academician R.I. Nigmatulin

Ufa, Russia, October 5–10, 2020.

June 2020 marks the 80th anniversary of the birth of Robert Iskanderovich Nigmatulin — outstanding mechanic scientist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

R.I. Nigmatulin is one of the founders of modern mechanics and thermophysics of multiphase media. He plays a key role in the mathematical justification of the mechanics equations using spatial averaging. He is an undeniable authority in the field of dynamics of vapor and gas-liquid systems and interphase interactions, the shock waves theory with phase transformations, unsteady combustion and detonation of heterogeneous media. R.I. Nigmatulin made a significant contribution to the development of multiphase filtration methods and to the creation of the theoretical foundations for the technological processes modeling in the energy, engineering, oil and gas industries.

Robert Iskanderovich is outstanding organizer of science, the Russian Academy of Sciences Presidium member, head of the Department of Gas and Wave Dynamics of Moscow State University. He is known for his principled speeches in defense and development of Russian science.

After graduation from the MSTU named after Bauman and Moscow State University he worked at the Institute of Mechanics of Moscow State University. After defending his doctoral dissertation in 1971, he had been teaching at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University for more than ten years and heading the laboratory at the Institute of Mechanics of Moscow State University. While working at the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he created the Institute of Mechanics of Multiphase Systems in Tyumen. From 1993 to 2006, he headed the Ufa Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan. And from 2006 to 2016, he headed the famous Institute of Oceanology named after P.P. Shirshov of the RAS.

For the successful and fruitful activity R.I. Nigmatulin was awarded many state awards, including the Lenin Komsomol Prize (1973), the USSR State Prize (1983), the Government Prize of the Russian Federation (2012, 2019), the Order of Honor (2000), the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree (2011) and etc.

As part of the anniversary events of August 24-29, 2020, the VII Russian Conference with international participation ”Multiphase Systems: Models, Experiment, Applications“ is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Academician R.I. Nigmatulin. The conference will be attended by the heads of regional scientific centers and institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, leading scientists, including members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and foreign participants.

Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences represented by the Institute of Mechanics named after R.R. Mavlyutov UFRC RAS with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (Russian Ministry of Education), Department of Energy, Engineering, Mechanics and Control Processes of the Russian Academy of Sciences (OEMMPU RAS), Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR), Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan (AS RB) and the Republic of Bashkortostan (RB) from August 24 to August 29, 2020 in Ufa holds the VII Russian conference with international participation ”Multiphase systems: models, experiment, applications“, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Robert Iskanderovich Nigmatulin. The organization will be attended by the Russian National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Bashkir State University, Ufa State Aviation Technical University and Ufa State Petroleum Technical University. Planned location - Institute of Mechanics named after R.R. Mavlyutov UFRC RAS. Within the framework of the conference, the Russian Scientific Youth School will be held.

Conference purpose

The purpose of the conference is to present new theoretical and experimental results in various areas of multiphase media mechanics. It is planned to organize lectures by leading scientists of the country, discussions and scientific communication.

The conference is organized by the Institute of Mechanics named after R.R. Mavlyutov, in the formation of which Robert Iskanderovich took an active part. From the first days of its existence, he has been working closely with the team and is the supervisor of one of its research areas.

The conference topics are connected with scientific problems that are in the circle of interests of the Institute scientists: Multiphase media mechanics; Micro- and nanoscale dynamics of disperse systems; Computational and analytical methods for solving mechanics problems; Hydrodynamics of technological processes and environmental protection; Interaction of constructions with working environments; Dynamics of the gas hydrates formation and decomposition; Robotic systems functioning taking into account the specifics of the environment; Mathematical models of promising technologies for the gas hydrate deposits development.

Working languages: Russian and English.
